In the Beginning

I was born in San Bernardino, California on January 2nd, 1946 (an early "BabyBoom" generation baby). Before I knew I was alive, we moved to Alhambra, California and lived at a home at 916 Atlantic Ave. After a few years, we moved a block (west I think) to 904 Olive Avenue. Both homes were pleasant, but Olive Avenue was a much quieter street than was Atlantic.

The first phone number I ever knew was ATlantic 9-1706. That's the way they did phone numbers then. You dialed (no push buttons yet) the numbers where the A and the T were, followed by five digits. Years later while rummaging around in the dark, dirty and musty police substation office at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, we actuall found an old dial phone that indicated its number was RIchmond 8-5150. Actually that number (748-5150) now belongs to Contemporary Services Company (CSC), who provides unarmed security now at the Coliseum and other large sports and entertainment venues.

I went to Garfield Elementary School and my older sister Beth was at Alhambra High School.

Shortly after I turned 8 and was baptized (January 2, 1952) by my dad, we moved to Salt Lake City, Utah
