We have been in the nicest home we have ever dreamed of living in for nearly ten years now. It has been everything I ever wanted in a home but as we grow older and experience more aging-related frailties it has become apparent that living on three levels with a pretty large yard and garden has become impractical for us.
We had considered selling in a few months and we have enjoyed looking around for a very nice but smaller home that affords us one-level living. We located a patio home development that seemed perfect in Crestwood but feared that all the units would be all built and sold before we were ready to move.
There is an on-line (internet) neighborhood bulletin board for our neighborhood where we can share messages, requests, etc. with others in our neighborhood. A few weeks ago I noticed a message stating that someone was interested in buying a home in our development and were willing to pay about we thought ours was worth. Even though we weren't ready, I responded with a message saying we were planning to sell in a few months and if they were still interested they could check back with us in April or May (this was in early February).
They responded immediately and asked if they might stop by and take a look. We said yes and they did. They almost immediately offered us a price that was right at the top of what were hoping to get. So we ironed out all the questions about improvements and other issues connected with selling real estate and we agreed to sell and they agreed to buy. The house passed all inspections and appraised at actually a few thousand dollars more than our agreed purchase price.
We went to Crestwood and picked out a nice patio home that is just over half the square footage we now have. It has the master suite on the first floor including of course a nice master bath. There is a small second bedroom on the main floor that we will use as a den/TV room and another full bath on the main floor. Upstairs is a large guest suite (big enough for either of our sons and their families - both have four kids) including another full bathroom.
This home is about 500 yards from the Crestwood stake center and about a mile from the Louisville temple. There are other neighborhood amenities too numerous to name.
While we haven't moved yet, the entire process truly seems to be blessed from on high. Everything has gone as smoothly as it can possibly go.
I am going to try to attach some photos of our lovely Prospect, Kentucky home (truly Our Old Kentucky Home).
The first photo is the front as it was when we bought the house.
Number two is, believe it or not, the dining room (the fourth and fifth photo shows the dining room after Cathy told me what to do).
The third photo is the family room BC (before Cathy)
