 Journal Entry

Not much to report. Had my checkup with Dr. Welch. That went pretty well. Then I drove Cathy downtown SLC so she could find a church dress. No luck.

Today I'm going to the Bishops' Storehouse for more forklift training. I'm going to enjoy being able to help with operating the forklift when needed.

The question came up as to whether Bishops' Storehouse should have the apostrophe between the p and the s in Bishops' or after the s. I have decided to put myself in the camp that has the apostrophe after the s, meaning Bishops plural possessive and not single.in plain terms, Bishop's Storehouse indicates a Storehouse associated with one bishop. Bishops' Storehouse indicates a Storehouse affiliated with more than one bishop which I think it's the most appropriate spelling. We've seen it spelled both ways but more often than not it is spelled Bishop's and I believe that is the proper way so that's what I'll try to do.

While Cathy was shopping at the City Creek Shopping Center I walked. I found that one lap around the upper level was about a mile and I got my steps in (7500 +).

Come Follow Me

Romans 4

Romans 6:4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

"And after we come out of the waters of baptism, our souls need to be continuously immersed in and saturated with the truth and the light of the Savior’s gospel. Sporadic and shallow dipping in the doctrine of Christ and partial participation in His restored Church cannot produce the spiritual transformation that enables us to walk in a newness of life. Rather, fidelity to covenants, constancy of commitment, and offering our whole soul unto God are required if we are to receive the blessings of eternity."

Elder David A. Bednar, April 2007

Book of Mormon reading

2nd Nephi Chapter 30

Converted Gentiles will be numbered with the covenant people—Many Lamanites and Jews will believe the word and become delightsome—Israel will be restored and the wicked destroyed. About 559–545 B.C.

Chapter 31

Nephi tells why Christ was baptized—Men must follow Christ, be baptized, receive the Holy Ghost, and endure to the end to be saved—Repentance and baptism are the gate to the strait and narrow path—Eternal life comes to those who keep the commandments after baptism. About 559–545 B.C.

It's interesting to contemplate God's plan of salvation. What kind of beings are we that God knows that we need to learn and be guided line upon line and precept upon precept. He gives us the ultimate gift of freedom of choice but guides us and provides the help we need to make good choices. But ultimately we have to choose. And by choosing the right way we grow in joy and happiness. It is almost overwhelming to me how wonderful His plan is.
