2023 October 17, Journal Entry

Our new tree was planted yesterday morning, ending, we hope, the dead tree controversy with the HOA. It's pretty innocuous right now but next spring and every spring thereafter it will stand out because it should have beautiful pink cherry blossoms whereas the trees planted by the developer are pear trees with white blossoms.

We drove up to Bridal Veil Falls yesterday for a quick two-mile walk.

Yesterday afternoon we went to the Bishops Storehouse to help with the annual, I  think, inventory. It was very well organized and we actually enjoyed being a part of the project. We were done in about ninty minutes.

I will play play pickleball in a little while with some of my elderly friends who don't always feel elderly.

Then it will be off to SLC where Cathy will undergo eye surgery. It will be done on an outpatient basis but it's a very serious procedure and will be done under general anesthesia. I'll try to provide more details tomorrow.

Come Follow Me

1 Thessalonisns 3:12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love one toward another, and toward all men, even as we do toward you:

"As followers of Christ we should live peacefully with others who do not share our values or accept the teachings upon which they are based."

By Elder Dallin H. Oaks Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, October 2014

Book of Mormon reading

Helaman, The prophecy of Samuel, the Lamanite, to the Nephites. Comprising chapters 13 through 15.

Chapter 13, Samuel the Lamanite prophesies the destruction of the Nephites unless they repent—They and their riches are cursed—They reject and stone the prophets, are encircled about by demons, and seek for happiness in doing iniquity. About 6 B.C.

Chapter 14, Samuel predicts light during the night and a new star at Christ’s birth—Christ redeems men from temporal and spiritual death—The signs of His death include three days of darkness, the rending of the rocks, and great upheavals of nature. About 6 B.C.

14:1 And now it came to pass that Samuel, the Lamanite, did prophesy a great many more things which cannot be written.

Hmmm.
