081225, Tuesday - Home From the Hospital

Daily Vitals: Weight: 230.3, Book of Mormon Reading: 2 Nephi 12, GMI: 7.0, Steps (previous day) NA

Journal Entry

I'm home but there's much still to do apparently.

While still at the hospital, I got a PICC line (everyone calls it a "pick" line) installed yesterday afternoon in my right shoulder and upper arm. It's a method that allows me to have an IV daily injection of antibiotics while at home. Someone is going to come by this morning and help me figure out how to do this.

Then this afternoon, I go back to the hospital to the "Wound Care Clinic" to get a cast for my right foot that will allow safe but limited walking ability.

Obviously I will learn more today about how to care for my future.

What is also painfully (in every sense of the word) obvious is that I have truly brought this all on myself by not taking care of myself as I should have over the last few years. Every thing that's happened or that is happening now could have been easily avoided by just eating and exercising more intelligently. I sincerely hope that by improving in those areas I might enjoy a few more years of productive life.

Don't get me wrong. I've done good things and been a good person in many ways but things could have been much better if I had used a little more common sense. I'm hoping I will have the opportunity to do better and that I will do better in the future.

If someone is reading this and there's time in your life to improve on how you eat and how you exercise, please do yourself a favor and learn from what is happening to me.

All of this has been hard on Cathy. She is, in every sense, a true angel and I will be eternally grateful for her.

Come Follow Me

D&C 88:12 Which light proceedeth forth from the presence of God to fill the immensity of space—

13 The light which is in all things, which giveth life to all things, which is the law by which all things are governed, even the power of God who sitteth upon his throne, who is in the bosom of eternity, who is in the midst of all things.

"We can picture the love of God as light emanating from the tree of life, shedding itself abroad over all the earth into the hearts of the children of men. God’s light and love permeate all His creations."

Sister Susan H. Porter, First Counselor in the Primary General Presidency, October 2021

We hear and read much about God, our Heavenly Father, and there might be a temptation to not really understand who or what that is other than all things good. It's important to remember that when Joseph Smith, a fourteen year old boy, received his first vision he was visited two distinct Heavenly beings: Jesus Christ, our Savior and the Savior of the entire world, and His Father, our Father in Heaven. God is, in every sense of the word, our father and our creator. I don't know how He has done it but there's no doubt that He has and that he is the source of truth and light and all that is good in our world.
