2023 November 10, Friday, Journal Entry

I went back to the Provo Recreation Center for the first time in months. It is, to me, so much nicer than the Orem Family Fitness Center. It has a longer track, better lockers and a nicer Lazy River but it's much farther away and Cathy doesn't like it as well... Not sure why. But Cathy was still feeling poorly so I went by myself. When I got there I realized I didn't have my Apple watch which monitors my steps. So I spent a few minutes trying to get my iPhone to monitor my steroids and actually succeeded. So I got my 7500 plus steps in.

Then I took Cathy for another drive which she enjoyed.

She is feeling much better today.

We were going to watch Jake's kids while they had a day to celebrate their anniversary but some of them are ill so that has been put on indefinite hold for now.

Come Follow Me
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

Hebrews 11 is one of the best chapters dealing with the vital importance of faith that I have ever read.

Some excerpts from Hebrews 11:
3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

5 By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. 6 But without faith  it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

32 And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: 33 Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.

"Most blessings that God desires to give us require action on our part—action based on our faith in Jesus Christ.
When you receive any blessing from God, you can conclude that you have complied with an eternal law governing reception of that blessing. But remember that the “irrevocably decreed” law is time insensitive, meaning blessings come on God’s timetable. Even ancient prophets in search of their heavenly home “died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off … [and] were persuaded … and embraced them.” If a desired blessing from God has not been received—yet—you do not need to go crazy, wondering what more you need to do. Instead, heed Joseph Smith’s counsel to “cheerfully do all things that lie in [your] power; and then … stand still, with the utmost assurance, to see the … arm [of God] … revealed.” Some blessings are reserved for later, even for the most valiant of God’s children."

Elder Dale G. Renlund, April 2019

Book of Mormon reading
Ether Chapter 5, Three witnesses and the work itself will stand as a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

Chapter 6, The Jaredite barges are driven by the winds to the promised land—The people praise the Lord for His goodness—Orihah is appointed king over them—Jared and his brother die.
