2024 January 24, Wednesday, Journal Entry

Tuesday evening/Wednesday morning is my busy time each week. I'm a floor manager at the Lindon Bishop's Storehouse on Tuesday afternoons. We close at 6:30 p.m. but we always let late-comers in to get their orders. As one of the managers, I make sure we're locked up and secure before we go home and Cathy and I are always the lady to leave. Realistically we are usually done and out by 7. But then I have to be at the temple for my coordinators meeting at 0445 on Wednesday mornings. So it's a busy time but I'm done by 1000 on Wednesday mornings and usually have the rest of the day to recuperate. I truly enjoy it. I sorry of see my work week starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday and ending at 10 a.m. On Wednesday so not too bad. We also work the Saturday morning shift at the Storehouse but that's also a good thing.

So I'm writing this on Thursday morning.

Regarding the Bible and plain and precious truths

1 Nephi 13:28 Wherefore, thou seest that after the book hath gone forth through the hands of the great and abominable church, that there are many plain and precious things taken away from the book, which is the book of the Lamb of God.

29 And after these plain and precious things were taken away it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles; and after it goeth forth unto all the nations of the Gentiles, yea, even across the many waters which thou hast seen with the Gentiles which have gone forth out of captivity, thou seest—because of the many plain and precious things which have been taken out of the book, which were plain unto the understanding of the children of men, according to the plainness which is in the Lamb of God—because of these things which are taken away out of the gospel of the Lamb, an exceedingly great many do stumble, yea, insomuch that Satan hath great power over them.

"Often plain truths are perverted by the pretentious, the crude, the low, the critical, the contentious, the haughty, and the unrighteous. More so than in any other time in our history, there is an urgency in today’s society for men and women to step forward and teach the gospel of Jesus Christ in the power of plainness. God delights when His truths are taught clearly and understandably with no conspicuous ornamentation. Plainness in life, word, and conduct are eternal virtues. When the plainness of Christian teaching and living is lost, apostasy and suffering result. People walk in darkness when the light of plainness is taken from their lives."

Elder Marvin J. Ashton Of the Council of the Twelve, April 1977
