2024 January 14, Sunday, Journal Entry
I took this photo because it was snowing pretty hard. It's hard to tell from the photo but take my word for it. It's snowing and supposed to keep showing. Incidentally the time is 0440.
I truly wish we would all use 24 hour time but that's not going to happen. It's just so much easier to say or write 0440 than 4:40 a.m., or if it were afternoon it would be 1640. Then it's also difficult to know for sure that you should write 4:40 PM, or 4:40 p.m.... You want to get it right, right?
Anyway, it's snowing and it looks like a major storm. We'll see.
The Bishops Storehouse was busy as usual yesterday. It gets really crowded, especially toward the end of the shift. And that's what makes it a little distasteful. But it's a great program and runs as well as can be run. We met some really good people. Some are there for themselves and their families. Others to help others.
Come Follow Me
1 Nephi 5:21 And we had obtained the records which the Lord had commanded us, and searched them and found that they were desirable; yea, even of great worth unto us, insomuch that we could preserve the commandments of the Lord unto our children.
22 Wherefore, it was wisdom in the Lord that we should carry them with us, as we journeyed in the wilderness towards the land of promise.
"The scriptures are so important that Nephi risked his life to obtain a copy of them. He wanted to “see, and hear, and know”. He “searched [the scriptures] and found that they were desirable [and] of great worth”. In the scriptures he learned about “the doings of the Lord in other lands, among people of old”. He started a study of the scriptures and learned about Heavenly Father, His Son Jesus Christ, the Holy Ghost, and his identity as a son of God. He learned who he was and what to do."

1 Nephi 6:4 For the fulness of mine intent is that I may persuade men to come unto the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, and be saved. 5 Wherefore, the things which are pleasing unto the world I do not write, but the things which are pleasing unto God and unto those who are not of the world.
