2024 January 12, Friday, Journal Entry
Not a lot going on of journalistic interest other than weather. It's been snowing quite a bit and the forecast is for more.
We have a temple visit scheduled for today. Initiatories at noon and a 1 p.m. Endowment session.
We both like to get some walking done for exercise. Yesterday we talked about going out to breakfast then walking in one of the shopping malls - probably University Place. We'll see.
Old age is an interesting thing. I'm 78 and mostly feel pretty good. It's hard to describe but I do get tired a little more quickly and I feel like people avoid giving me some tasks due to my being "older". And truthfully I don't mind letting younger men do most of the heavy lifting. It's just an interesting time in my life... Sort of. I have an indoor exercise routine that involves stretch cords and stairs and I'm doing a little more of that and that helps. But on to Come Follow Me.
Come Follow Me
1 Nephi 3:7 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, said unto my father: I will go and do the things which the Lord hath commanded, for I know that the Lord giveth no commandments unto the children of men, save he shall prepare a way for them that they may accomplish the thing which he commandeth them.
"How high we climb on the ladder of faith is our decision… We can choose to make the choices needed to increase our faith in the Savior.
Consider the impact of the choices made when Laman and Lemuel descended the ladder of faith while Nephi climbed higher. Is there a clearer representation than the difference between Nephi’s response of “I will go and do” versus Laman and Lemuel, having just seen an angel, responding with “How is it possible that the Lord will deliver?”
Unbelief blocks our ability to see miracles, whereas a mindset of faith in the Savior unlocks the powers of heaven.
