2024 January 17, Wednesday, Journal Entry

I snapped this photo at about 4:25 a.m. today at the Mount Timpanogos temple just after I exited our car to start my shift. Cold and snowy.

It was pretty quiet at the temple probably mostly because of the weather.

Come Follow Me

1  Nephi 8: 10 And it came to pass that I beheld a tree, whose fruit was desirable to make one happy.

11 And it came to pass that I did go forth and partake of the fruit thereof; and I beheld that it was most sweet, above all that I ever before tasted. Yea, and I beheld that the fruit thereof was white, to exceed all the whiteness that I had ever seen.

12 And as I partook of the fruit thereof it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy; wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also; for I knew that it was desirable above all other fruit.

"When we choose to repent, we choose to change! We allow the Savior to transform us into the best version of ourselves. We choose to grow spiritually and receive joy—the joy of redemption in Him. When we choose to repent, we choose to become more like Jesus Christ...

The Lord does not expect perfection from us at this point in our eternal progression. But He does expect us to become increasingly pure. Daily repentance is the pathway to purity, and purity brings power. Personal purity can make us powerful tools in the hands of God. Our repentance—our purity—will empower us to help in the gathering of Israel."

President Russell M. Nelson

The We Believe app suggests, and to me it makes sense, that the tree of life is the Savior, Jesus Christ, and the pure, white fruit represents his atonement and atoning power.
