2024 January 29, Monday, Journal Entry
We had a good Sabbath yesterday. Good Sacrament meeting and good Priesthood meeting.
The NFC and AFC championship games took place yesterday with the Kansas City Chiefs beating the Baltimore Ravens in Baltimore and the San Francisco Forty-niners beating the Detroit Lions in San Francisco (actually Santa Clara). Football is my favorite sport and I record the games that I want to watch so that watching them doesn't interfere with any of my proper Sunday duties. I actually watched the Chiefs Ravens game this morning. So those two winners will play in the Super Bowl in two weeks and then football will be over until August.
Basketball is in full swing now. I used to enjoy playing basketball but never got to where I enjoyed watching it much. I enjoy baseball. I'm a bit of a Dodgers fan. Lately they have played really well during the regular season but haven't figured out how to win in the post season.
Nothing much on today's schedule.
Come Follow Me
1 Nephi 16:28 And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them.
It's very interesting that the "ball" worked "according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto" it. Not automatic. Not with any on-off switch. This makes it easy to assign a comparison to the Holy Ghost or Spirit of the Lord or the words of Christ.
"So we see, brethren and sisters, that the words of Christ can be a personal Liahona for each of us, showing us the way. Let us not be slothful because of the easiness of the way. Let us in faith take the words of Christ into our minds and into our hearts as they are recorded in sacred scripture and as they are uttered by living prophets, seers, and revelators. Let us with faith and diligence feast upon the words of Christ, for the words of Christ will be our spiritual Liahona telling us all things what we should do."
Elder W. Rolfe Kerr Of the Seventy, April 2004
