Today is the 45th anniversary of our temple sealing. When we got married, Cathy was a new convert to the church. At that time you had to be a member for a year before you could get a temple recommend. So after we got married civilly it wasn't until a few months later that we got married forever in the Los Angeles, California temple. Coincidentally today's Come Follow Me lesson included the fact that Nephi, at the direction of the Lord, caused a temple to be built.

I enjoyed subbing for Dennis Gauger in the temple yesterday. My day started and ended with one Veil assignment. Dressing room and Initiatories in between. Then I completed five Initiatories of my own after the shift. I was able to ride with Art Sandgren so Cathy would have the car. It was a good productive day.

Serving in the Bishops Storehouse today to finish off a pretty productive week.

2 Nephi 5:16 And I, Nephi, did build a temple; and I did construct it after the manner of the temple of Solomon save it were not built of so many precious things; for they were not to be found upon the land, wherefore, it could not be built like unto Solomon’s temple. But the manner of the construction was like unto the temple of Solomon; and the workmanship thereof was exceedingly fine.

"A temple marriage for time and all eternity is worthy of your greatest efforts and highest priority. It was only after Nephi had completed the temple in the wilderness that he stated, “And … we lived after the manner of happiness.” The “manner of happiness” is found in the temple. It is covenant keeping. Don’t let any influence come into your life or your home that would cause you to compromise your covenants or your commitment to your [spouse] and family."
