I played pickleball for two hours. There were only four of us so we all played every game. Pretty good exercise. Then Cathy and I walked for nearly three miles. Obviously I got my steps in and that's good. I just weighed myself at 234. When I started keeping track seriously back in May, I weighed 257. I'm trying to lose weight by changing my lifestyle. I find that by eating a little less and by eating more sensibly that I will lose weight and at the same time not feel like I'm suffering. So far it's working. My first goal was to get down to 238 which I did. Now I'm shooting for 225 where I hope to settle in and stay. Nine pounds to go.
We decided to take lunch - Zao tacos - over to Jake and Meredith which they appreciated.
Come Follow Me
1 Corinthians 15:22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
"So today we celebrate the gift of victory over every fall we have ever experienced, every sorrow we have ever known, every discouragement we have ever had, every fear we have ever faced—to say nothing of our resurrection from death and forgiveness for our sins. That victory is available to us because of events that transpired on a weekend precisely like this nearly two millennia ago in Jerusalem."
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland, April 2015
Apparently back in Paul's day as well as today, I'm told, there were and are those who do not believe in a resurrection. I'm not sure why that is. Life being eternal makes far more sense to me than life just ending at death. When a person dies, obviously something changes... Something leaves that body and that something is his or her spirit. And for those who doubt there are countless reasonable and, to me believable, accounts of Heavenly visitors. Plus it's so much more comforting to believe in eternity.
Book of Mormon reading
The words of Alma which he delivered to the people in Gideon, according to his own record. Comprising chapter 7.
Chapter 7 Christ will be born of Mary—He will loose the bands of death and bear the sins of His people—Those who repent, are baptized, and keep the commandments will have eternal life—Filthiness cannot inherit the kingdom of God—Humility, faith, hope, and charity are required. About 83 B.C.
Chapter 8 Alma preaches and baptizes in Melek—He is rejected in Ammonihah and leaves—An angel commands him to return and cry repentance unto the people—He is received by Amulek, and the two of them preach in Ammonihah. About 82 B.C.
