2024 January 30, Tuesday, Journal Entry

Going to breakfast with Jake this morning. And later today we will be at the Bishops Storehouse for our service there.

I'm trying to decide whether or not to donate a large segment of my wardrobe to Deseret Industries. I've got a significant number of XXL tall shirts and they are seriously too big for me to wear. Actually, some of my XLT shirts are a little too big. I used to weigh near 300 lbs but now I'm holding steady at a little under 230. It looks like I'm going to be able to keep my weight down so DI here I come.

My temple coordinator, Mike Hansen sent an email recommending that we watch Elder Bednar's BYU Devotional Address on the Works of God which is titled "His Work". I actually watched it last Tuesday shortly after it was delivered and was impressed with it. I'm going to watch it again in a few minutes after I'm done here. I wouldn't be surprised to see Elder Bednar become president of the Church during my lifetime. He's relatively young and seems to be in good shape. His son, Eric, was our Bishop in Crestwood, Kentucky and I served with him as our ward executive secretary. I was priviledged to meet Elder Bednar a few times because of that connection. Eric is now the Stake president in Crestwood and he is truly an impressive young man.

Come Follow Me

1 Nephi 17:3 And thus we see that the commandments of God must be fulfilled. And if it so be that the children of men keep the commandments of God he doth nourish them, and strengthen them, and provide means whereby they can accomplish the thing which he has commanded them; wherefore, he did provide means for us while we did sojourn in the wilderness.

"Obedience brings blessings here and now. Jesus said, “If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them.” Happiness and peace are found when we are in harmony with ourselves, with God, and with our fellowmen.

Through obedience we build spiritual strength that sustains us during times of adversity."

President Barbara W. Winder, Relief Society General Presiden, October 1985
