Journal Entry

We enjoyed a nice dinner visit with Kevin and Becky last evening. She seems to be a great choice for Kevin (and he for her). Two good people. Right now I'm hoping they can figure out how to get their lives together and move forward. It's complex. They're both divorced with kids. Both had been been married in a temple. Both own or owned homes. And that's as far as I'm going right now. There are issues that can be worked out but will take some time. Bottom line is they're obviously in love and they're both great people so I'm hopeful.

We are going to drive home today.

Come Follow Me

"I remember a simple sampler that I cross-stitched as a young Primary girl. It said, “I will bring the light of the gospel into my home.” I wondered, “What is that light?” Jesus Christ Himself explained it best when He was teaching the Nephites. He said... “I am the light which ye shall hold up—that which ye have seen me do”. What had the Nephites seen Him do, and could I possibly do those things in my home? When the people desired for Him to tarry with them a little longer, He had compassion upon them and lingered with them. Then He healed them, prayed with them, taught them, wept with them, blessed their little children one by one, fed them, and administered and shared the sacrament that they might covenant to always remember Him. His ministry among them was about teaching and caring for each individual, and about completing the work His Father had commanded Him to do. There was no thought for Himself. As I learned this, there began for me a lifelong quest to bring His light into my home through selfless, Christlike acts."

3 Nephi 19:1-14

1 And now it came to pass that when Jesus had ascended into heaven, the multitude did disperse, and every man did take his wife and his children and did return to his own home. 2 And it was noised abroad among the people immediately, before it was yet dark, that the multitude had seen Jesus, and that he had ministered unto them, and that he would also show himself on the morrow unto the multitude. 3 Yea, and even all the night it was noised abroad concerning Jesus; and insomuch did they send forth unto the people that there were many, yea, an exceedingly great number, did labor exceedingly all that night, that they might be on the morrow in the place where Jesus should show himself unto the multitude.

Beginning in verse 4 and continuing through verse 14, Nephi and the rest of the Twelve met the multitude on the next day and repeated Jesus' teachings to the multitude. Then Nephi and the Twelve prayed to receive the Holy Ghost. Then they were baptized and received the Holy Ghost. At this point Jesus had not yet appeared on that day. Stay tuned.

It's interesting that they prayed to receive the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is one of the the greatest, if not the greatest, gifts from God. I've experienced that myself and would like to experience it more. I hope I'm not being disrespectful when I describe the Holy Ghost as a kind of divine Wifi that never breaks down and never gives bad or incorrect direction as long as we are striving to be worthy and Christ-like.
