This coming Sunday we had planned to have Jake and Meredith and their kids over to our place for dinner and to celebrate four birthdays, Alexander, Fredrick, Erica and Cathy (grandma). Then Jake called and said that Meredith's mom and her brother, Ethan wanted to be involved and we could have it at Jake's house. Then some others got involved and the attendees grew in number to eighteen at latest count and had moved to Hexburgs home in Vineyard. So we ordered a cake from Costco and Cathy is bringing the meat to barbecue.
So we walked up in the canyon then went shopping for stuff.
I have been taking a medication called Mounjaro for my diabetes and it works really well. But it's so popular that pharmacies can't keep it in stock. I ordered a prescription refill over two weeks ago and virtually every day the pharmacy says they don't have it but they will in two days. It's a weekly injection and I took my last one last Sunday and still no refill. Turns out my particular dosage is the problem. Pharmacies have the next higher dosage but not mine. Naturally they don't tell me this so, anyway, now that I've found out, I'm trying to get my doctor to simply prescribe the next higher dosage which I think he'll do, but now it's Saturday so I probably won't get the prescription til Monday but that should be OK.
So I spent the last few hours yesterday working on my prescription.
Come Follow Me
1 Corinthians 15:29 Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?
"Because baptism by water and of the Spirit is essential for full salvation, in the eternal nature of things all of God’s children should have this opportunity, including those who have lived in centuries past. The doctrine of baptism of the living for the dead in the temple was understood and practiced in the early Christian church. Paul, in his great discussion about the Resurrection, reasoned: “Else what shall they do which are baptized for the dead, if the dead rise not at all? why are they then baptized for the dead?” Doing something so vital for those who cannot do it for themselves is truly Christlike."
President James E. Faust, Second Counselor in the First Presidency, April 2001
As with many things in life, actually doing something as opposed to just saying you will or saying that you truly support something is much more significant. Baptism is one of the first four principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Every person who wants to return to Heavenly Father's presence has to be baptized. And baptism for the dead makes that possible. If we don't fully understand that now, we will in the future.
Book of Mormon reading
The words of Alma, and also the words of Amulek, which were declared unto the people who were in the land of Ammonihah. And also they are cast into prison, and delivered by the miraculous power of God which was in them, according to the record of Alma. Comprising chapters 9 through 14.
Chapter 9, Alma commands the people of Ammonihah to repent—The Lord will be merciful to the Lamanites in the last days—If the Nephites forsake the light, they will be destroyed by the Lamanites—The Son of God will come soon—He will redeem those who repent, are baptized, and have faith in His name. About 82 B.C.
Chapter 10, Lehi descended from Manasseh—Amulek recounts the angelic command that he care for Alma—The prayers of the righteous cause the people to be spared—Unrighteous lawyers and judges lay the foundation of the destruction of the people. About 82 B.C.
