2023 November 17, Friday (Scottsdale), Journal Entry

After a nice breakfast at First Watch we drove up to Cave Creek area and went for a nice hike at a place called Jewel of the Creek Preserve. As you can see from the photos, the attractions there include Saguaro Cacti in various configurations.

In the afternoon we relaxed on our patio again then we took Kevin and Kim and Blake out to dinner at an Indian (not native American) restaurant called Marigold Maison..

Come Follow Me
James 3: 2 For in many things we offend all. If any man offend not in word, the same is a perfect man, and able also to bridle the whole body.

James 4: 7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you.

"You and I may speak most eloquently of spiritual things. We may impress people with our keen intellectual interpretation of religious topics. We may rhapsodize about religion and “dream of [our] mansion above.” But if our faith does not change the way we live—if our beliefs do not influence our daily decisions—our religion is vain, and our faith, if not dead, is certainly not well and is in danger of eventually flatlining."
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, He Will Place You on His Shoulders and Carry You Home, April 2016

Book of Mormon reading
Moroni, The second epistle of Mormon to his son Moroni. Comprising chapter 9.
Both the Nephites and the Lamanites are depraved and degenerate—They torture and murder each other—Mormon prays that grace and goodness may rest upon Moroni forever. About A.D. 401.

Chapter 10, A testimony of the Book of Mormon comes by the power of the Holy Ghost—The gifts of the Spirit are dispensed to the faithful—Spiritual gifts always accompany faith—Moroni’s words speak from the dust—Come unto Christ, be perfected in Him, and sanctify your souls. About A.D. 421.
