Journal Entry

We went out for what I call a "progressive" breakfast in that I got my breakfast burrito from Del Taco and Cathy got her egg white bites at Starbucks then we went to Chick Fil -A for our yogurt parfaits.

Then we wanted to go to Sun River Gardens to get some hydrangea food but they didn't open until 0900 so we drove up to Grove Canyon in Pleasant Grove to get a close look at their huge American flag. So we got the stuff from Sun River then Cathy drove us up to a restaurant near Kamas called Woodland Biscuit Company. It was a cute place but only open on Saturdays and Sundays. Since yesterday was Saturday we thought we were in good shape but they politely told us that without a reservation they couldn't help us. So live and learn. There is another place up there in Oakley that was open and happy to seat us.

Former president Donald Trump was injured in an obvious assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania last evening. Sad. He will be fine but one bystander was murdered and at least two others seriously injured in the incident.

Book of Mormon Review Reading: Alma 4

Alma 27:28 And they did look upon shedding the blood of their brethren with the greatest abhorrence; and they never could be prevailed upon to take up arms against their brethren; and they never did look upon death with any degree of terror, for their hope and views of Christ and the resurrection; therefore, death was swallowed up to them by the victory of Christ over it.

"Hope is one leg of a three-legged stool, together with faith and charity. These three stabilize our lives regardless of the rough or uneven surfaces we might encounter at the time. The scriptures are clear and certain about the importance of hope. The Apostle Paul taught that the scriptures were written to the end that we “might have hope.”

Hope is a gift of the Spirit. It is a hope that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ and the power of His Resurrection, we shall be raised unto life eternal and this because of our faith in the Savior. This kind of hope is both a principle of promise as well as a commandment, and, as with all commandments, we have the responsibility to make it an active part of our lives and overcome the temptation to lose hope. Hope in our Heavenly Father’s merciful plan of happiness leads to peace, mercy, rejoicing, and gladness. The hope of salvation is like a protective helmet; it is the foundation of our faith and an anchor to our souls."
