2023 November 18, Saturday, Journal Entry

Most of yesterday was spent driving home from Phoenix.

The photo here is of the Glen Canyon Dam holding back the waters of Lake Powell on the border of Utah and Arizona.

I've got to admit that I don't enjoy the all day drive required to get back and forth to Phoenix.

We enjoyed the visit with Kevin and Kim and Blake. I worry that that marriage might be falling apart. That's all I'll say for now other than they just don't seem closely committed to each other. I'm not sure we can do much to improve that situation but whatever we can do we will do.

Come Follow Me

James 3:17

17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. 18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

"At one time or another I believe everyone yearns for the “peace of God, which passeth all understanding”. That peace for our troubled hearts only comes to us as we follow the Light of Christ, which is “given to every man, that he may know good from evil”, as it leads us to repent of sins and seek forgiveness. For all there is a hunger to know “the peaceable things of the kingdom” and to taste “the fruit[s] of righteousness,” which are “sown in peace of them that make peace”. In every home, neighborhood, and community, we ought to strive for peace and never be party to stirring up contention or division."

Elder M. Russell Ballard

Book of Mormon reading

Yesterday I completed another reading of the Book Of Mormon. This time I resolved to limit my daily reading to two chapters so that I could try to concentrate on what was being taught. I did this partly because next year's Come Follow Me curriculum is going to be the Book of Mormon and I want to get it right. That book contains "the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ" and I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can.
