Journal Entry:
Yesterday we walked at Rock Canyon Park the drove to Riverton to Kenland Farms to see what they were offering. I was still suffering from back and left leg/hip pain so we came home and rested. By bedtime I was feeling pretty good so I took my pain meds and went to bed. Got a pretty good night's sleep.
Today we'll have breakfast with Jake and see what he and his family are up to. They were going to go to Lagoon together today but apparently will do that later in the week. I feel pretty good today so far (it's early) so I'm thinking I'll probably go ahead and serve in the Bishops Storehouse with Cathy this afternoon. I still feel that I'm going to undergo an additional spinal surgery but that will depend on my meeting with Dr. Kimball next Monday morning. Then tomorrow I'm back to serving in the temple as an Ordinance Worker. None of these things are physically too demanding so I'm hoping to not suffer adverse effects. We'll see.
Come Follow Me
In Alma's day many people left the church and were actively attacking those who didn't. This is also happening in very sinister ways today.
Alma 1:25 Now this was a great trial to those that did stand fast in the faith; nevertheless, they were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God, and they bore with patience the persecution which was heaped upon them.
"How do you remain “steadfast and immovable” during a trial of faith? You immerse yourself in the very things that helped build your core of faith: you exercise faith in Christ, you pray, you ponder the scriptures, you repent, you keep the commandments, and you serve others.
When faced with a trial of faith—whatever you do, you don’t step away from the Church! Distancing yourself from the kingdom of God during a trial of faith is like leaving the safety of a secure storm cellar just as the tornado comes into view."
Elder Neil L. Andersen Of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, October 2012
