Today's Journal Entry
Cathy and Karen and I went up to Provo Canyon to walk again and as we got up to the Upper Falls Picnic area we saw a car that seemed at first to be parked strangely. But it turns out the driver of the car had somehow driven up on the upper falls bridge over the Provo River and when driving off of the bridge had inadvertently tried to drive down this incline as seen in the photo and fit hung up on a large rock.I had forms to sign and lab work to get done in preparation for my upcoming surgery. I believe that's all done now. Today is Tuesday and surgery will be first thing Thursday morning. I'm not sure whether I will have to be in the hospital overnight but Cathy is pretty sure I will and she's usually right about stiff like that. Last time I was in for two nights. I'm also on a "clear liquid" diet starting at 7 p.m. tonight so I'm going to be hungry.
I've been thinking about this whole process. I have the strong feeling that Dr Kimball is very qualified and competent. I think he feels a little badly that this follow up Surgery is needed and I have the unmistakable feeling that he is going to be especially attentive and that he will do everything he can to get this fixed properly. I feel good about this whole process and believe I will be better off when this is all done. In the meantime I'm going to have to go through the recovery and healing process one more time but when this is over, I truly believe I will be in good shape.
Come Follow Me
Alma 37: 6 Now ye may suppose that this is foolishness in me; but behold I say unto you, that by small and simple things are great things brought to pass; and small means in many instances doth confound the wise.
7 And the Lord God doth work by means to bring about his great and eternal purposes; and by very small means the Lord doth confound the wise and bringeth about the salvation of many souls.
"Those “seemingly insignificant” private decisions include how we use our time, what we view on television and the internet, what we read, the art and music with which we surround ourselves at work and at home, what we seek for entertainment, and how we apply our commitment to be honest and truthful. Another seemingly small and simple thing is being civil and cheerful in our personal interactions.
None of these desirable small and simple things will lift us to great things unless they are practiced consistently and continuously."
President Dallin H. Oaks, First Counselor in the First Presidency, April 2018
