Vitals: Weight 219.5; GMI 6.9
Journal Entry
My efforts to control my glucose levels are paying off. I was pleasantly surprised to find my glucose management indicator (GMI) level down to 6.9.
I'd say that I'm learning how to eat better and my glucose monitor is helping. I'm truly blessed to live in a time where these medical innovations are available.
I'm planning on working at the Bishops Storehouse today and continue to work each Tuesday and Thursday for the foreseeable future. Next Wednesday I'm back to being an Ordinance Worker at the temple. So life is returning to normal. I still have to concentrate on controlled and limited bending, lifting and twisting but I think I will be able to get used to that.
Book of Mormon review (review of earlier Come Follow Me assignments): Alma 15
Come Follow Me
Alma 33:21 O my brethren, if ye could be healed by merely casting about your eyes that ye might be healed, would ye not behold quickly, or would ye rather harden your hearts in unbelief, and be slothful, that ye would not cast about your eyes, that ye might perish? 22 If so, wo shall come upon you; but if not so, then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him, to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works.
I included this scripture because in today's world, like in the days of Alma, their seem to be many who are caught up in so called progressive, or "woke" policies. They refuse to consider logical and what I believe to be true explanations and descriptions of what's going on in our world in our day.
Alma 33: 22 If so, wo shall come upon you; but if not so, then cast about your eyes and begin to believe in the Son of God, that he will come to redeem his people, and that he shall suffer and die to atone for their sins; and that he shall rise again from the dead, which shall bring to pass the resurrection, that all men shall stand before him, to be judged at the last and judgment day, according to their works.
23 And now, my brethren, I desire that ye shall plant this word in your hearts, and as it beginneth to swell even so nourish it by your faith. And behold, it will become a tree, springing up in you unto everlasting life. And then may God grant unto you that your burdens may be light, through the joy of his Son. And even all this can ye do if ye will. Amen.
"In [Alma’s] instruction, he compared the word to a seed that must be planted and nourished, and he described “the word” as the life, mission, and atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ…
The seed we should strive to plant in our hearts is the word—even the life, mission, and doctrine of Jesus Christ. And as the word is nourished by faith, it can become a tree springing up in us unto everlasting life.
…[I]s the Word in us? Are the truths of the Savior’s gospel written in the fleshy tables of our hearts? Are we coming unto and gradually becoming more like Him? Is the tree of Christ growing in us? Are we striving to become “new [creatures]” in Him?"
