The Bishops Storehouse was, as I anticipated, very busy yesterday but Elder Wilson had it so well organized that it ran very smoothly. It's so nice to be a part of church welfare services and help people and get to associate with people who are benefiting from the food provided. Having a family that barely speaks English get a shopping cart full of food that will help feed them through the coming days is just one of the blessings that I enjoy. There are other people picking up food for families that have no way to get it for themselves. It's a great feeling. And I get to do it with Cathy who also enjoys the service we provide. It is truly a blessing to us and the others who serve along side us.
Yesterday afternoon I went to the Orem Family Fitness Center to finish off my 7500+ daily steps. They have an indoor track and towards the back of the facility there is a two level staircase that has 13 steps on each level so on every lap I take 26 steps down and 26 steps back up then continue my walk. It just adds a little extra exercise.
Come Follow Me
James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.
"In a later prayer, Jesus included a plea for unity. “Father,” He said, “I pray unto thee for them, … that they may believe in me, that I may be in them as thou, Father, art in me, that we may be one.” We too can pray for unity. We can pray to be of one heart and one mind with the Lord’s anointed and with our loved ones. We can pray for mutual understanding and respect between ourselves and our neighbors. If we really care for others, we should pray for them. “Pray one for another … ,” taught James, for “the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
Elder Russell M. Nelson, April 2009
