Gonna get my hair cut this morning. That's not very fascinating, is it? We'll probably walk after that. Walking is just about the only exercise I can get since my back surgery. I still have pain when I bend or twist. But I can walk painlessly so that's what I try to do. Yesterday I walked at Fashion Place Mall while Cathy did some shopping. She finally found some decent Tshirts that look good on her and have a decent neck line. She's a good looking woman but finds it difficult to find some clothes, especially tops, that are compatible with garments.
After we got home, she rested while I finished my 7,500 steps by walking in the neighborhood.
I should maybe note that BYU's football team is 5-0 in their second year in the Big 12 conference. I'm a little skeptical that they can keep up that place but they really look good sometimes. It's fun for us who like football and BYU.
Come Follow Me
3 Nephi 11:1 And now it came to pass that there were a great multitude gathered together, of the people of Nephi, round about the temple which was in the land Bountiful; and they were marveling and wondering one with another, and were showing one to another the great and marvelous change which had taken place. 2 And they were also conversing about this Jesus Christ, of whom the sign had been given concerning his death.
3 And it came to pass that while they were thus conversing one with another, they heard a voice as if it came out of heaven; and they cast their eyes round about, for they understood not the voice which they heard; and it was not a harsh voice, neither was it a loud voice; nevertheless, and notwithstanding it being a small voice it did pierce them that did hear to the center, insomuch that there was no part of their frame that it did not cause to quake; yea, it did pierce them to the very soul, and did cause their hearts to burn.
4 And it came to pass that again they heard the voice, and they understood it not. 5 And again the third time they did hear the voice, and did open their ears to hear it; and their eyes were towards the sound thereof; and they did look steadfastly towards heaven, from whence the sound came. 6 And behold, the third time they did understand the voice which they heard; and it said unto them: 7 “Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.”
As I read verse 5, above, I can't help wondering about the wording: "they did open their ears to hear it:"
At first, one might get the feeling that the voice they heard the first two times might have been in a different language but when you consider that they finally "opened their ears" and were then able to understand what was being said, Heavenly Father, the speaker here, was able to convey "Behold my Beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased, in whom I have glorified my name—hear ye him.”
Is it, at times, necessary for us to "open our ears" in order to receive the message that God is trying send us?
3 Nephi 12:43 And behold it is written also, that thou shalt love thy neighbor and hate thine enemy;
44 But behold I say unto you, love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them who despitefully use you and persecute you;
"You cannot erase what has been done, but you can forgive. Forgiveness heals terrible, tragic wounds, for it allows the love of God to purge your heart and mind of the poison of hate. It cleanses your consciousness of the desire for revenge. It makes place for the purifying, healing, restoring love of the Lord...
"Bitterness and hatred are harmful. They produce much that is destructive. They postpone the relief and healing you yearn for. Through rationalization and self-pity, they can transform a victim into an abuser. Let God be the judge—you cannot do it as well as he can."
